Re:What's the "Dating" thread for? - avoid if needed :) OldSchool: Well, isn't this just a fun little thread. What started as a tangent from another thread led to bashing and other crap.
I've had some experience in this and it didn't sit well with me for quite a while, but the fact that it got so out of control is very unfortunate. I've also proclaimed that "I'm outta here" and that I'd had enough, but somehow made myself back on here. I knew I was just spewing off and that I'm a positive person that made an error in judgement.
This is obviously a reoccuring theme on here where every once in a while a thread can split this site in half. Well, that's what happens when people have opinions and some can hurt more than others can.
Yeah it would suck to see people just up and leave on the basis of a harsh criticism. I think that just calls out that we need each other more than we think we do. We're different ages, genders and joke about different stuff, but nobody likes to get singled out and felt like they don't matter.
I've posted on here numerous times how uplifting this site has been on my lowest days. Reading about the B&B and seeing posts that don't have anything to do about divorce. That pic didn't bother me in the least, but it became a topic of discussion. Well a mountain did form from a molehill in that instance, didn't it?
I guess on the whole, I've learned something about my own faults on blaming others and feeling like the victim in a vent, story, or in life. So for what it's worth, pretty much all the OJAR Gods that have seen me on here since Nov. 04 mean something to me. Even if I don't totally get along with everyone or talk with them I follow along and see how they're doing. It means alot in this phase of my life and will carry me through as something that mattered til I do decide to move on.
Bottom line is we do all matter here and the crap we all went through in life can end if we choose it to be. Take it from someone who knows, let's just try to be a little more compassionate of one another, and yeah I can feel the cybermist in the room but this site matters to everyone.

Re:What's the "Dating" thread for? - avoid if needed :) i_sing_alone: I guess the reason I went to the dating thread to begin with, was for the same reason that I went into any thread. First, to browse the board and see what people were talking about and going through and how I would relate. Second, to see what people were talking about and how it may change my perspective on re-entering the dating world.
I posted my picture soon after I joined ojar with some reservation, but thought it only fair for people to know what I looked like if they were sharing as well.
