Re:Finally, a little good news links9814: ISO, I spoke to three different lawyers, including two family law. They all say because we were married for such a short time the judge would side with the natural parent.
Forget that we started the adoption process, forget that my wife made a Will and left the child to me if anything happened to her, and forget that I was the childs father for 18 months.
What does it all amount to, not a damn thing.
I could have fought, but my odds were very, very slim, plus me and my wife would throw all our money into lawyers and we would go broke, and that only hurts my baby. Since one parent has to look out for the child I have to step back. Plus they are now 500 away miles and seeing her would be difficult to begin with.
Re:Finally, a little good news in_search_of: You are so right, you should not have had to do it in the first place, but even in the darkest cloud there is a bright lining. You can now say that you know for sure you are clean and disease free...(not to say anyone is dirty :P) and at least you didn't get anything that you could not scrub off with ajax from her.
On the front with your daughter, often courts will grant visitation (if allowed under state law) to stepparents if it is in their best interest (and best interest is not based on what MOM wants...especially when she is a dingbat...) so I would check and see where the best place to file is, that would have a stepparent visitation statute) **TOTAL SIDENOTE THAT HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH THE ORIGINAL POST**
And thanks, I loved that sig too, I saw someone had one like it on another BB that I belong to, and I had to have it!
Re:Finally, a little good news links9814: I'm happy that this part is at least over and done, but I should have never had to this in the first place. Oh well.
ISO, I love you sig, that is so cute.
Re:Finally, a little good news in_search_of: Congrats! I am so glad that everything came back clean and clear! A step in the right direction of healing! How nerve wracking that you had one come back inconclusive, thankfully, your doctor was well informed and tested you thoroughly even after that!
Re:Finally, a little good news sourpuss: let's hope.
anyways, that IS good news. congrats.
