I also understand what you are saying that sometimes we need someone in the moment and a real voice. That can make the difference in someone not going over the edge. But as with anything, a good idea can be abused.
Maybe there could be a list of user's names of people willing to offer phone support, but the phone numbers not listed . Maybe the ones wanting support would have to write an essay so we would know they are serious and not wanting to hook up LOL I like the idea of a mentor program also.
I have unlimited long distance in the US and Canada and would be willing to help those that are serious, but I will NOT cater to perverts!!! LOL

If anything goes wrong I know the person behind the phone call from their billing details.
If I know the contact details are 'protected' from the public, I am also willing to put email addresses.
However, I am very much against publishing private numbers on this site where anyone from the public can read it and call.

I just thought of something. Would it be possible or feasable to make a list of phone numbers for people in emergency need. Newbies often arrive quite distraught and hearing a empathetic voice might be very beneficial.
I understand the whole privacy issue, but it is not something i am concerned about - i pick up hitchhikers. Ojar has truely been a godsend and I know I would like to help out more if I can.

I know people don't want their numbers given out willy nilly, but it's a great help if someone wants to talk to a real person...
I would give my number only, it's an international call for most people here, so I am not much good....
Maybe on premium OJAR we could have a helpline number. ..... 911
Re: Michael, A phone list? tyrogers: Most people who "know" people on here have already exchanged digits. I can't tell you who all has mine. I just know I have given it out a few times. I think that is something that the two people should decide after talking/giving advice to each other for a bit.
