biographies of positive role models browngreen: I am afraid to read any self-help relationship books.

The thing is that I've read some books like them before, and they were enlightening and gave me things to think about, gave me clarity.
But then, in real life, when it came down to it, I'd say "Yeah, this is like that book said." and STILL find myself reacting or behaving like I always had.

Also, a know people who have shelves filled with them and they aren't figuring anything out....
I guess I"m just using caution, for me, myself, when it comes to what thoughts I put in my head.

Rather than read something by design to be a relationship self-help book, I'm more interested in reading about women I find interesting, or anyone who has a positive life. I think a lot of my problems in handling my M come from me own vat of not having the right ideas in my head of how to live a positive and sucessful life. Like I"m hard wired for hard times, and because that is my expectation, that is what I get, with easy times only as temporary or surprise here and there wihtout rhyme or reason.
Seems like a messed up way to live, huh?
Not that I think life should be all easy, or that M should be, but shouldn't the good outweigh the bad? I can work hard at anything if the reward is worth it. But without the reward in view or being felt, without the benefit, I ask "Why am I doing this? Is this worth it?"

So, for me, I need ideas of who to read about next. A positive female role model, a woman with a happy marriage, would be good.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
