The Divorce Decree is Signed...
Had my lawyer not made a rare screwup - he mistyped one clause in one of the papers - it would've been signed a month ago. But he went on vacation, and then her attorney went on vacation, and then we had to get the document signed, and THEN the final settlement could be presented to the judge.
THAT was done on Monday and he immediately signed it apparently. Now it's just the 30 day waiting period between me and freedom! YES!!! ;D

Okay, I'm stupid. The 30 day wait is apparently just the separation time needed before anything can be finalized. I got the copy of the decree in the mail yesterday - of course, I was lazy and didn't check the mail til this morning - and it reads, in English:
The vows of matrimony between the plaintiff and the defendant are hereby absolved effective July 25, 2005.
;D ;D ;D YES!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D I'm free! I'm free! I'M FREE!
Okay, I'm better. I still don't know why it ever had to come to this. A year earlier, we were two days away from moving into our new house. If you would've told me on THAT day that one yer later we would've been divorced, I would've called you an idiot. Obviously, I would've been wrong.
Guess that wouldn't have been the first time...
