Re: Ojar Welcome Wagon summerparis: I think there's kind of a natural progression. When I first started posting here, I stayed pretty much in the top sections, and as I got more comfortable and also as life stabilizes, the lower sections became more relevant to me.
This is an amazing support network, one for which I'm extremely grateful. It has been different things to me at different times.
For me, giving back and posting to the newbies at the top is the way that I provide welcome wagon service. They are the ones who really need help, right now, and who knows, maybe later on they'll stay on the board more and goof around with us. But I see that as the newbies' choice - how much they want to be involved in this board. It seems pretty inclusive to me.
Ojar Welcome Wagon sigkapgirl: Okay, so I was sitting here thinking (and yeah, it DOES hurt!) and I had an idea (ow. ow. ow).
There has been much discussion and whatnot about the so called "in crowd" and I was trying to think of a solution, because I do understand that when someone first comes here, they DO feel like they're out of the loop and everything. So, what if we kind of did something where, when we see that someone as posted their story (or somewhere around their first post) we send them a PM or whatever, and invite them to come join us on the anything goes boards/random thoughts/etc.
I was just thinking that maybe if they had an "invitation" (so to speak, because its not like you have RSVP to participate!), then they might feel more comfortable coming to the "lower" boards.
So, this is what happens when nobody is posting and I'm trying my hardest to procrastinate! Any thoughts?
