Your post-breakup health

Your post-breakup health harmonix321: I was reading a peer-reviewed study that showed that the health of a non-smoking divorced man is on average worse than a married man who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. There is a particular risk of high blood pressure and other stress related illnesses. Those people who's spouses cheated or had another relationship during the marriage or the divorce process have the worst health of all. Do you personally feel your health has gone downhill or have you bucked this trend?

Personally, my health feels pretty good. I've lost some weight due to lack of appetite and look as good as I ever have. I've had insomnia from time to time and episodes of high stress but these are becoming more and more infrequent. I do appear to be losing some hair, though. It's subtle. Anyone have some recommendations for that?  :D

This thread is not an invitation to take up smoking! ::)
Re: Your post-breakup health C-Note: Relapsed into dealing with the breakup of my Ex 2 weeks ago.  Depression was so bad I missed two days of work the day after I talked to her.  2 weeks later I've just returned from my ER visit where they told me I have the Flu, and am running a temperature of 102.5 degrees.

Even with the Flu I feel better now then I did during the following 2 days after I spoke with her.  I'm basically starting the process of getting myself emotionally together from zero.

So yeah.. I think Ex's may have an adverse effect on a man's health.

Re: Your post-breakup health JNA: IMO divorce is one of the most stressful events in life...

Stress = Not good for your health

The loss of hair could be from not eating as well...Lack of vitamin content in the body just my opinon

Divorce...the death of a longtime spouse etc are very tramatic events in life...

A lot to add but the main thing is too take care of "yourself" the best you can even though some times are tough

Just take "one" day at a time is all you can do

This was by far the most stressful, painful event I've ever had.  I think the only thing worse would be losing a child.  Maybe that and not being able to feed your family.
