Re: Still young? threetimeloser: That is the problem with the much older generation. Back when divorce was unheard of or taboo, getting married young was a given. But how many marriages live together in hell after 40 years because they were raised that way. Today we still hold on the notion to marry young. You are not getting any younger they say. But of course life expectancy was in the 60's or less. Today we live longer and we don't live out on a farm. Women do not stay at home (those that choose not to do so) and raise fourteen kids so that they can wish that one of them will be successful and take care of the rest of the family.

You are still young and probably have ties with your parents but if you have already been married it is time you live for yourself, not by what your parents or grandparents did. When they were young there was no such thing as enjoying life until you are thirty. Why? Because it was different times.

Live for today. Make your future life as you want it to be. Find out about the world so that you then know what to aspire for.

Good luck kid. My retirement is in your hands. Don't f*** it up ;D
Still young? Zipsfb: Yeah, so it's been 7 months for me... and I'm 22 (23 in April).  I feel SOOO old, and all of my friends are newly weds or engaged.  I feel like I'm missing the boat, and that when I finish school (in 4 months) the odds of meeting someone are slim.

I have no clue how to meet people outside of class or through networking... I think I'm screwed.  Thoughts?  Anyone else feel really old even though they are relatively young?

Re: Still young? LostTeacher: i feel old because of the amount of time i spent with my stbxh before we finally called it quits.
we were together starting in grade 9 (so we were 13).  we broke up briefly when we were 18, but got back together....got married at 24, and are divorced at 27.
i go back and forth between feeling old and feeling young.  sometime i feel like i am 18 again....because i am doing things that i should have done at that age, but didn't because i was already attached....like bar hopping, drinking, partying, going out all the time,
but sometime i feel really old....because i have lived the life of a wife, and i miss it sometimes.  sometimes i don't want to go out....i want to have someone to sit at home with and watch movies and just cuddle on the couch.  i miss that life, and i still don't know how to find that life with someone new.
i don't work in a place that will all me those kind of relationships.  my ex, however, was able to pick someone up rather quickly because of where he worked.  it makes me frustrated, but it also lets me see that only now am i starting to feel better about being single, and wanting to challenge the singles scene.

Re: Still young? 4sarah:   I think people find someone when they least expect  it!  I hear online dating is huge maybe that would work.  I hope something works because I'm 27 and will finish nursing school in 4 months and would love to meet someone.  I don't feel old but I do feel left out of the whole couple thing (all my friends are married etc..)
Good Luck
Sarah
Re: Still young? JNA: Dude you are not old...and most of those relationships out of College and HS fail at about a 90% ratio...

My ex-wife and I split up after a long Marrriage...

As far as meeting people

You can meet people online
In a bar
At work
Just through people you know

Take your time and enjoy life...Enjoy women
They outnumber us two to one
Take your time and find the right one for you

JNA

When meeting people...Just be yourself
