JC's/universities and transferring between???? Does any system not suck? Dio: I need to know from someone who knows about this stuff....

Are there any community colleges out there, in any state, that have a 1 for 1 credit/credential transfer rate when switching to a local university?

I am running into a problem with 1 semester of Antomy 150 @ community college is equal to 1.5 quarter credits in biological science and only worth 1 quarter anatomy class instead of 2......

The same goes for Bio. Microbio, Cellular Bio, Physics,.... the only classes that transfer without ripping you off are mathmatic classes. Calc 1 is still Calc 1. Everything else in my transfer schedule is set up to loose value when I go to the university. I don't want to retake freshman classes and general ed crap when I get to my junior year.

From what I can tell, the UC and Cal State programs all work like this period. I am hoping someone knows of a system in another state that will actually allow me to use my earned credits from JC on an equal basis, transfered to University.

Private schools are okay. Anyone who can decipher what I just said.... please give me your input. I am more worried about time more than money.
Re: JC's/universities and transferring between???? Does any system not suck? timetobefree: Honestly, it sounds more like a problem with quarters/semesters than jc's/universities. Have you looked into a university that is still on semesters?

I can relate to your pain. My university switched from quarters to semesters while I was there. They promised the students up and down, left and right, all over town that we wouldn't lose anything in the process.

Yeah, right. ::)

I had to take a couple of extra classes, which meant it took me five years to finish my degree (which ended up being ok, because I decided to go for a double major).

Hope this helps!

Amy ;D

Re: JC's/universities and transferring between???? Does any system not suck? tara: The University of Wisconsin system is supposedly set up for seamless transfer, but it doesn't always work that way. That and some of the courses you might take for an associate's degree won't count toward your BA (in other than "elective credit" ways).
