Divorce Party?

Divorce Party? BankerChick: Has anybody had a divorce party?

I've passed my one year of separation, I'm signing the papers today, so sometime in the next 90 days I'll finally be free.

I've collected certain items that would appear at a batchelor party (um... anotomically correct pasta for starters) along with a champagne glass with the "groom" marked out, I've been told that someone will make me a divorce cake where it looks like the bride is pushing the groom off the cake...

Anybody else planning a divorce party or have been to one? I never had a batchelor party, so I'm planning to make up for it.
Re:Divorce Party? LKN4ME: I had a Divorce Party after my divorce was final with my first husband! It was awesome.

We went to my favorite bar and had a great time. My friends started a "Tradition" that we do now at all divorce parties........Each person goes and finds someone single that the Divorcee would like and brings them back to introduce them. (You don't bring back someone married or in a committed relationship!)

Along with: the Divorcee doesn't pay for any of their drinks and is taken home at the end of the night.

We always the the Introduced people to buy them drinks!

Great fun...................
Re:Divorce Party? ChrisJane: I did! It was just family and friends, but we had a nice dinner, congratulation balloons, cake.

I'm even thinking about sending my ex a 1 year anniversary card on our 1 year of separation date next month! Salt to the wound but a reminder of a GREAT YEAR!
Re:Divorce Party? BankerChick: OK, so I finally got the notice that the judge will see the case on Monday. The Divorce party is Friday 13. It fits, really.

So here's the plan. A girls only party. I have several friends who have been through the same who will be there.

Special anatomy pasta. Wine. A divorce cake with the bride pushing the groom off the cake. A wine glass with "Groom" on it marked off. Congrats balloons on the front porch. Rentals of Le Divorce, First Wives Club, War of the Roses, Waiting to Exhale...

The highlight of the evening is letters SHE mailed him (that I just happened to keep) burning in the grill. Should be fun. I would burn the wedding dress, but I'm hoping if I have a daughter one day to let her play in it when she is growing up. I always wanted to do that in my mother's wedding dress but couldn't.
Re:Divorce Party? picadilly: haha, Banker, you rule.

As a man, I may not be invited but I'll raise a glass in a toast to you anyway. :P

Moving forward, it is. :)
