Last ditch effort by ex to sabotage me
.

Last ditch effort by ex to sabotage me janee: Just when I thought everything was over, I've hit more snags. The divorce was final in mid July. And the decree said I owed 18,000 through the refinance, since I am keeping the house and buying him out. Well, I received a nasty letter from his attorney(a dime store attorney), stating I went over 30 days with doing nothing, I would be in contempt of court, and possibly face jail and lose the house. And pay his attorney fees. I talked it over with my attorney, and as long as I am doing everything, I will not lose my house, etc. First of all, loans take a while, and he's using his attorney to rake me over the coals. And second, he expects me to ship his stuff, its in the decree, for 578.00. He lives a 1000 miles away and expects me to pick up the rest of the costs? I don't think so. Is it ever going to stop? He is a spoiled, rich, toddler who throws a tantrum until he gets his way. I talked to a good friend, who works in the legal field, and told me not to worry, its his last ditch effort to upset me. Well, when waiting for a home refinance loan to close, getting employment hours reduced, and being pressured by ex-jerk, its challenging not to be upset. When I believe things are settled, something new seems to pop up. In fact, I am getting another moving company to do an estimate on his stuff, so I have leverage to say its the company that will charge at least $1000.00 to move his stuff. And he has a roll top. I don't know where they came up with the number of $578.00. I was told by the moving company I can't ship a roll top via UPS for that cheap. And the idea of the ex coming up to pick up his stuff is not an option, because I put a restraining order on him. And I don't want to see his face ever again.

Sounds like his attorney is using pressure tactics and trying to wear you down. Unfortunately, I'm sure it's only the beginning of the tricks. Regardless of what price you're discussing you say a number, they say a number closer to what they want (keep in mind this may be completely unreasonable but annoying), and they try to get you to meet in the middle over and over and over.

And you're right...it seems a grand is a cheap price to hire a moving company. I hope you don't have to see his face after the final court date. You're friend is right and I hope you meet more men who can amicably disagree with you.

Take care...chin up...this too shall pass for us all,
LL
