does marriage ruin relationships? Kinney26: All I ever wanted was a wife and a family. I had it and now it is gone. I had a happy relationship for 3 years before marriage. I had lots of happy times after marriage too, but the arguing got worse and more frequent, my stbx thought about leaving 2 months after the wedding, for no reason. Does marriage just ruin things. I think I would want to get remarried at some point, but is it worth it or will I have to go through this again, I couldn't take that. It just seems like divorce is way to accepted and easy. A lot of people go into marriage thinking that they can just get out if things get rough. Call me crazy, but I thought marriage was supposed to be a sacred life long commitment, not a trial run. It just seem like people always want to take the easy way out. Just because you may be unhappy right this moment doesn't mean you can't have years of happiness ahead of you just communicate and work things out as they come. I didn't have the perfect marriage but it wasn't terrible. My stbx pretty much left just because she doesn't want marriage anymore. Obviously she mislead me into believing that marriage was important to her when in actuallity she could just walk away for no real good reason. Is marriage really worth it anymore in this day and age. I would like to think so , but I have many doubts now.

It's a good point you have raised here and for me I look at it from two angles.
1.Does it ruin things,like you said and
2.Would you do it again?
In the UK it seems to be an epidemic and a full blown divorce war is raging.I personally think marriage does not ruin things,it's more a case of the 'starter marriage'syndrome,whereby a way out is all too easy.Even easier where you are."Move on" they say,"get over it"...but I thought I was married for life?So to the next issue.
I can offer only 4 words.What is the point?But I love being in a relationship and all it has to offer and it's a shame I feel this way.

I don't have any answers for you but I just wanted to let you know that I am right there with you. I will most likely end up married again because I am a it's better to love and lost kind of guy. I do have some serious concerns but I am not going to change my core personallity because of 1 rotten apple.
