Thank You
.

Thank You Bug: Today I recieved two garbage bags full of clothes. They were given to my children by a neghbor of a friend of my ex's. I have never met this women but I have the urge to bring her cookies. :) They are nice clothing and sorely needed. As far as I know she knows nothing of my financial situation. She simply met my children once and this is the second time she has sent a pile of clothes that her chld/children have grown out of. My oldest was just growing out of the clothes she had and my youngest didn't have much left that wasn't wearing out. I had no way of buying them more. Then out of the blue I get these clothes. Now instead of having two pairs of pants that fit my six year old has two piles of pants. For everyone out there who has ever given like this to someone I want to thank you. Whether it be food, clothes. or just a shoulder to cry on that you give thank you. Even though sometimes the person you give to may not know how to express it you can never know how much it might mean. To all the caring people out there thank you!
Re:Thank You timetobefree: Glad to hear that things are looking up! I know for me as I have been struggling through my divorce, I value every smile shown my way, even from the cashier at the grocery store. You never know when your small act of kindness is going to make someone's day! You really just don't....plus, this divorce has really opened my eyes to the fact that you don't know what is going on in a person's life...I think I have kept on a pretty brave face through all this. So I try to remember that when dealing with cranky people out in public...perhaps they are going through a divorce 10x more painful than mine...

Anyhow, I digress...

Take care,

Amy :D

Re:Thank You lostinlife: I have always made it a point to live my life with a couple things in mind.

1. Perform 1 random act of kindness each day - you may never know whos day you brightened beyond belief.

2. Always remember, that no matter how things are at that moment, there is always someone who has it worse. Acknowledge that - show you care - it will come back to you in the smile, warm wishes and joy you feel when you help someone else to see the better side for a few minutes. It gives everyone hope.

I agree with you both - what a way to pick up your day!
Thanks for acknowledgeing the gift that others give just by being thoughful human beings. :D

Re:Thank You lostinlife: I think I will issue a challenge to all of my fellow OJARians -

For one week - Starting on Sunday (10/24/04) -

Perform 1 random act of kindness each day. Either to a stranger or to someone you know. It does not matter.

At the end of the week, lets all gather again and relate what it was like to give a little something good everyday.

Who's up for the challenge? I'll start a thread for just relating the results!
