ok, met him IRL need help scrdbyelmo: ok i've been chatting with this guy for about a month and a half and we finally met last night and though i enjoyed his company and definately want to do it again, i was very nervouse and uncomfortably shy...I AM NOT A SHY PERSON...im in marketing and get voted comedian and most talkative in highschool....has anyone else felt this way the first time to meet IRL....help is this a gut feeling that its not right (i dont think so) or is this a normal reaction
Re:ok, met him IRL need help RecoveringinDE: I would think it is a normal reaction. Talking either over the phone or on IM is completely different than face to face. Even if they already know your personality, you could be afraid of making a wrong impression. Just my thoughts.

I guess it depends how long you've known the person, but I am guessing the longer you know them and talk with them, the easier it is to meet them in RL. There is that initial awkwardness to meeting in RL that you don't normally have with the online/talking thing. Anyway you look at it, first dates are always awkward though...

I am nervous every time I go on a first date. The only time I'm not nervous meeting someone is if I'm in a group or with a friend and I just get introduced (and didn't realize it was going to happen). This to me is the best way because the "expectation" isn't there. You are just two people meeting and if you hit it off, great. If not, no big deal.
I'm going to say this and I know it will sound odd, but I think it's worse the longer I talk to a guy before we meet. I find it's better for me if I just talk to him for maybe one conversation and then we get together. I know this isn't always optimal when you are talking to people online, but if I can do it, I work it this way. Ialso find my level of nervousness increases the more I'm into the guy, but I think that's understandable.
If you're trying to talk yourself out of going to see him again, then you know it just wasn't right.

Re:ok, met him IRL need help Shanna: I was so nervous and shy when I met Frid. WE had been tlaking on the phone for a little while and I was scared he wouldn't like me in person. That and we happened to meet in a room that had a huge crowd in it.....and I don't do crowds well...chicago here I come!! lol.
So yougoing to see him again or not?
